Safety tips when using a baby backpack carrier: Part II
Check the baby backpack carrier before
each use
Before bringing your baby out
with your backpack carrier, always check for wear and tear damage such
as ripped seams, frayed seats or straps and missing or loose fasteners. Frayed seams or ripped seams can give
way suddenly with your baby still on the carrier. To be on the safe
side, stop using the backpack carrier immediately once you find such
damages.
Keep your baby's fingers away from
moving parts
Babies love putting their
fingers in every nook and cranny they can find, this includes their
mouths and worse still, moving parts of the baby backpack, such as the
frame joints, or fasteners. Make sure
your baby's fingers aren't in any of those when you are setting up or
folding the backpack.
Take care of yourself, use proper
lifting techniques
Carrying your baby around in
a baby backpack carrier is similar to carrying a weight. When picking up the carrier, always
bend your knees, not your waist.
Similarly, when bending over to pick up
something from the ground with your carrier on, bend your knees instead
of your waist to keep your baby from falling out.
To take good care of your baby, you should
always take good care of yourself. An injured parent can't do much for
his/her baby.
